2019 Road Rides


Sea Otter Classic - Laguna Seca (Monterey), April 11-14

Hosted by bicycle industry powerhouse SRAM and automaker Subaru.  There are too many road and mountain bicycle events to list but suffice to say this is the Premiere cycling event in the United States.  Lots of industry swag to be had even if you just visit to look around and not compete.  Just about every major bike manufacturer will be present.  Entry fees vary based on event.  Basic festival pass is $15/day or $50 for 4 day weekend day of purchase.


Primavera Century - Fremont, Saturday, April 20th

Hosted by Fremont's own Fremont Freewheelers Bicycle Club.  Ride starts at Mission San Jose High School and has several distances, 25, 65K, 100K, 85, & 100 miles routes.  100 mile route has just under 6000 feet of climbing.


Tierra Bella Century - Gilroy, Saturday, April 13th

Hosted by Almaden Cycle Touring Club.  Ride starts at Gavilan College and has several distances, 35, 62, 100, & 122 miles.  100 mile route has 6400 feet of climbing.


Grizzly Peak Century - Moraga, Sunday May 5th

Hosted by Berkeley based Grizzly Peak Cyclists, this ride starts and finishes at Campolindo High School and offers a 100k and 100 mile road routes as well as 100k and 100 mile mixed terrain routes (incorporates dirt trails).


Wine Country Century - Santa Rosa, Saturday May 4th

Hosted by Santa Rosa Cycling Club.  Ride starts at the Wells Fargo Event Center just off hwy 101 and offers several distances, 35 miles , 100k, 100 miles, & 200k.  100 mile route has 3300 feet of climbing.  NOTE:  This is a usually very popular ride and sells out fast.  Registration opens Feb. 1 at 12:01 am.


Sonoma County Backroad Challenge - Petaluma, Saturday May 18th

Hosted by the Petaluma Sunrise Foundation.  Ride starts at Penngrove Park and has distances of 35, 70, & 100.  100 mile route has 6800 feet of climbing.


Sequoia Century - Palo Alto, Sunday June 2nd

Hosted by the Western Wheelers Bicycle Club.  Ride starts at Foothill College in Los Altos and has distance of 50 miles to 200 kilometers.  100 mile route typically has about 9000 feet of climbing.  This is one of the more challenging Bay Area centuries.  Registration opens around March 1st.


Santa Cruz Mountains Challenge - UCSC Campus, Saturday July 20th

Hosted by Santa Cruz County Cycling Club.  Ride starts on the UC Santa Cruz campus at Baskin Circle and has distances of 100k, 100m, and 200k.  100 mile route has 11,000 feet of climbing.  This ride is sometime referred to as the Death Ride of the Bay Area, extremely challenging climbs without the altitude of the Sierras.  Registration opens in February.


Marin Century - San Rafael, Saturday August 3rd

Hosted by the Marin Cyclist Club.  Ride starts at Marin County Fair Grounds in San Rafael and has distances of 50k, 100k, 100m, 200k, & 200m.  100 mile route has 7000-9000 ft of climbing depending on route selected.


Foxy's Classic - Davis, Saturday October 19th

Hosted by the Davis Bike Club.  Ride starts at Davis High School and has distances of 50k, 100k, & 100m.  100 mile route has just over 2000 feet of climbing.  This is a pretty fast century and a great one for beginners to start with.

SLO Gran Fondo - Avila Beach, Saturday October 26th - 27th 
Hosted by Visit Avila Beach for the benefit the Hearst Cancer Research Resource Center.  This is a race event but can be ridden w/o competing.  25m, 100K and 100m events.  Also included is a King and Queen of the mountain climb with jeresys awarded.
